In Pursuit of... an awesome place to put my clothes... [Jul. 28th, 2010|11:11 pm]
[mood |artisticartistic]

It's finally finished! What started as a, "Hey, it's a cheap piece of furniture! I'll paint it and turn it into something I wouldn't mind putting in my room!" turned into a bit more work than I'd anticipated. It seems that cheap furniture is covered with a varnish that makes it repel scratches, stains, etc. Unfortunately, this also means that it repels PAINT. Paint did not stick, at all, so I ended up having to sand the crap out of the whole thing and apply a couple of coats of primer. (Even the PRIMER didn't want to stick...) Then, the paint took a few coats to cover, and the detail work was very veeerrrryyy slow going. But, in the end, I think it turned out pretty geeky awesome, and the colors are perfect for my new room. :) Bring on the pics!!

From boring blah...

Decided not to put all the knobs on before I painted. :)

To nerd-cool. :D

Cheap furniture really does hate getting changed. Looks awesome! I love that color combo.

I love cheap, second hand furniture. You can do what you want with it and if the project turns into a total failure, its no major loss on your part.

That paint job = awesome sauce
